Sound like Eric "Three Sheds" Goulden has given Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson a run for his money! Thanks to your poem, I think I finally understand the context for that sketch.

Damn you, I was going to say almost exactly that and you beat me to it!

The world of sheds is intense here - have never fully grasped the significance! No basements, no garages, little attic space- sheds are everything.

That poem nearly had me spit tea on the monitor. Hope you get to walk to your own gig there.

Glad I made you laugh Ed! I hope so too, though parking shouldn’t be a problem either.

I’m a few months ahead of you, and I know how it feels to be suddenly interested in bird watching. (I use the Merlin app constantly.) Loved the poem and am very happy that you’ll be in the northeast later this year. Hope to see you then!

An Excitement of Peaches is akin to a Murder of Crows, I learnt that in Fish School.

Cheers dear!

damn fine and sweet writing! we're further into too much and enjoying it, despite occasional annoyingness of characters. pleased that some stuff that came up was unexpected.

What a great blog and a delight to discover you! I too am a Yankee transplant in the UK. And a musician (singer songwriter) voice artist and blogger as well. I encourage you to read me on tumblr at HollywoodBlondeatLarge ..,

Life on the Hedge…

Thanks for being inspiring!

The poem is brilliant! And it's SO you, touching and hilarious. Being, ahem, even older than you, I can relate to LOTS of this. A musician friend here in Kansas City, Bob Walkenhorst, retired his rock band, the Rainmakers, a couple of years ago but still plays a couple of times a month at a fine local dive, for a massive $5 cover charge. You SHOULD have a gig at the local pub, however often they would be lucky enough to have you! I'm excited for you and Hazel's wedding, too. Our daughter just got married in June, and it WAS wonderful. Anyway, I'm sure looking forward to your book. All the best to you and Eric!

Thank you so much Greg- I think Michael Hurley did the same up in Portland, it seemed like a cool thing to do! Congratulations on your daughter’s wedding, what a special day for everyone. Take care and thanks again!

You need to write more poetry! And when the first local gig happens, let me know! It's over 6 hours to get there, but that that's the sort of thing I like to do. X

Thanks Stribs. BOTH Eric and I are playing a small fest at the Suffield Arms the last Sat of August, doesn't have the allure of a pub but it's a nice spot (though like in the US that last weekend of summer might be the worst one to travel?)

“I’m so glad I’m not young anymore!”

Lovely echo of the Lerner & Loewe song.

"It’s only life and right here I’m gonna lead it"

I think you've got it down pat.

So are you a "New York" Yank in North Walsham like Mark Twain's "Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" ? I really like how you turn over the idea that the Yank is usually a man. And "sheds up the ass" is a highlight LOL moment amongst many in the poem.

I thought of “New York to North Walsham” but liked the more general and old-fashioned Yank, thanks Pascal!

I'm with you in re: the new series "Too Much." I wanted to love it but LD tried too hard. It was a caricature of a Lena Dunham series. Listening to you read your poem reminded me that I was hunting for an audio version of your book. Any chance you'll ever want to record them? Recently, after going thru several of them, I realized that i loved listened to people read their own bios. So much better than listening to my voice in my head, read someone else's words.

She can be so good! I felt no chemistry between the leads either, oh Adam Driver wasn’t he wonderful/awful?! Erica I recorded my first book as a podcast (Girl To City) 20 episodes, and hope to do the same with the next book. I really got into putting music etc in each episode- hope you’ll check it out.
