The very same thing happened to Lori after her dad passed. He kept pigeons when he was young and soon after he passed, there were a bunch of pigeons on the sidewalk as she was getting into the car. One hopped right in the car as she opened the door and didn't freak out at all. He wasn't afraid or panicky or anything. He just walked around for a while and left. Lori's sister said, "oh yeah, that was him"
My Mom died last year at almost 101. It was her time, and watching her go was sad but fascinating. I too look for birds (mainly cardinals) and ask them if they are her. I had a redheaded finch make a nest in my front door wreath and then abandon it; was it Mummy flying to heaven? We shall never know. Your words are lovely and resonated with me. Diary of a Mod Daddy! He's at peace now, like my Mum, and who knows what that entails? Vodka and 7-Up for everyone! Sending love, your new pal, Babs Leone xoxox
My Dad came back as a groundhog. I was crying in my studio and I heard a soft rustle, and there was a groundhog who had pushed open the door. He gave me a little nod and scooted off, offering a few seconds of reassurance, but impatient to get on with his day. Very Alex Bay of him!
Just lovely, Amy. My husband died 17 months ago and I wish there was a sign. Maybe there is and I'm not looking hard enough. I'm going to pay better attention. ❤️
Thank you Mary Lee. I was glad I wrote it before I felt on the spot to come up with something, I was amazed at my older brother who managed to do that with a proper eulogy.
That was beautiful, Amy.
Thank you Naomi!
