This summer just getting one or two things done each day seems like a triumph. I’ve eaten a peach every morning for 8 days running. Organic white peaches from Jersey. They’ve never been better. Excellent advice for your readership. Can’t wait to get ahold of your new record!!
Thanks for this, sounds hauntingly familiar. The days are long, but not long enough. No peaches anywhere in Maine this year, late freeze. We do have 3 peaches on the tree that overwintered in the hoop house, lots of apples this year though. Be well.
Nice post as usual, I don’t know how long I’ve been reading your diary entries, but I know it’s been for more years than I feel like quantifying. They’re always well written and worth reading, even the ones that are about situations that weren’t fun. (Get a little pump to attach to a battery powered drill - then you can sit on the dock & drink a beer while bailing! The weather’s so bad in the US I’m almost glad to be in Doha.)
Thanks for all these years of keeping up with me (and staying in touch) Jim. I don't know where we put the little pump we bought last year, were having trouble getting the right battery...now it seems to have disappeared somewhere in this house/garage. I think a good cover is going to be our solution for this summer anyway! Take care and enjoy Doha, what a trip that has to be.
Speaking of being a yank Over There... did you get the Olivia de Havilland book? You've probably read it before. I always forget you work in a bookstore! I found it amusing.
I’m just back from a week away during which I got to see beloved friends I’ve missed. I thought about none of this then. But now, the sheer overgrowth of everything in the ground and the effort needed to scale it back is getting me depressed. And it’s still gray and raining. But there’s a cute lil chipmunk out the window in a tree’s ledge, so I’m watching him. But he’s waiting for more birdseed, which I don’t have and can’t buy...ugh. It’s a cycle. Try to focus on one thing, I tell myself, and you. xox
Glad you had a great getaway Eline - I'm working towards one myself. I plan to swim in the North Sea in August , eat fish and chips and hope to see ABBA Voyage and the David Hockney show in London - all achievable goals. Just...two and a half more weeks! Oh we better push harder on this record...

Same Angel - the white ones are the sweetest! I remember many years ago Jim Spinks showed me how to take the skin off , I never looked back.
Love seeing your double spread notebooks, they're fantastic. One or two things a day is plenty these days.

Great to hear RL!

I keep trying to get some peaches that haven't been picked too early, it's frustrating! Enjoy the apples, and Maine, thanks Michael!

A-ha! Was wondering where that came from. Cute format! Thanks Don.
You just had to put that song in my head, didn't you? lol
"Millions of peaches... peaches for me"
Better that one than the Stranglers!?
Summer? I vaguely remember what that was. Doesn't exist in San Francisco. We break out winter clothes this time of year.
Brrr - the older I get the more appealing that seems!

I love that - had to look it up!
