i guess another way to look at it is laura nyro played monterey pop and not only is she not on the poster, they cut her out of the movie, too. so you’re in some brilliant company - right where you belong!
Thank you Sam, you always have my back! I so appreciate it. My searching just now turned up a Criterion Collection expanded edition of the Monterey Pop film with loads of extra performances, I need to watch it immediately!
Speaking of Monterey Pop (1967), look who's on the bottom line: Ravi Shankar, Canned Heat, Big Brother & The Holding Company (!) ... and Manny Moore. Sam is right: "you’re in some brilliant company - right where you belong!"
Amy, I think you are one of the greatest living song writers. I was just thinking this last night as I was listening to you and also to willie Nelson’s album of Harlan Howard songs. This is not hyperbole. I sincerely mean it and I marvel at and savour your music. You are one the great ones and those festival organizers are idiots. Just sayin.
That's really kind Joan, thank you! I think the organizers are just pragmatic, the band that tops me are from the area and so I suppose the truth is people do like to cheer their local heroes. I did ask...
That is a drag about your billing. I've read in some autobiographies of entertainers that billing was included with money in the negotiations of a contract. But, it's a thin line to walk. I wish we could all have managers to do this for us! But when all is said and done, getting to play is most important, and the money pays the rent. And as for me, ...I take my crow with Chardonnay! Carry on Amy! See you at the Depot in Cambridge! Looking forward! <3
