It was fun reading about Vick Mickunas of WYSO, Yellow Springs, Ohio. When you came through Dayton, I reviewed you for the Dayton Daily News. When you asked if Erma Bombeck had lived there, I should've offered to take you to her gravesite, but I was a little slow on the uptake...too in awe of your music.
Hi Hal - yes, it's funny, I just got in touch with the Erma Bombeck Writer's Workshop to propose a workshop for the next one 2026, have always wanted to make the pilgrimage!
I’m sad to hear that about Panera. That used to be a good place to go grade things--I’d often see my grad school classmates there, grading, too. There was one that I could walk to from my apartment in Knoxville.
Monica that's what I have liked about Panera even when the food's gotten worse, it was a place you could sit for hours. Was worried the diner would be too busy for that but it was huge and the waitress was so nice, glad I took the chance.
Eline - that's a good word for him and putting a positive spin on it. He loved to pose for photos right up to the end, he could really turn on the charm!
Great story telling as always. A lot of thought around aging these days. I'm writing my memoir one paragraph at a time on Facebook and my unpublishable writings which I dispose of after I look at them. Mulled wine can be so good or can suck with a sense of determination. I drink both with the same level of joy. Good for Eric getting those cataracts done. Best to you both. Happy New Yer and I look forward to seeing you in Jan at Stockade guitars.
Sucking with a sense of determination - a good way to look at it Bill! Look forward to reading more of your stories, and see you on the 17th at Stockade.
"Who will want to read this?"
We will.
Looking forward to it.

It seems worthwhile, to judge by the reports I've seen...You'd be in fine company. "sells out within hours." https://udayton.edu/artssciences/initiatives/erma/workshop/index.php
Got to give it a shot at least! Thanks Hal and Happy New Year.
Me. I will read whatever you write. Mulled or not.
Happy 2024---it feels like you have big things and changes ahead!
Thanks so much for reading - fingers crossed for all the changes and things. Happy New Year to you!
