Hey, after living in France, old familiar England should be like slipping into a comfortable old pair of Blundstones. Plus they speak your language, sorta kinda. May I suggest you and Eric record a parting gift to the USA by updating your 2020 single as "Don't Vote That F****er In Again"?

You're right Wes. France was a challenge, but glad to have had the experience! Can't believe we'll have to trot out those songs again ("Still Can't Read"), or write new ones. What the hell?

I agree with Messrs. Fletcher and Davis. You've nothing to worry about. Just make sure you put milk in your tea. And leave the ice out of your whisky.

I got seriously when I asked for some ice at the Whiski Bar in Edinburgh. Good advice

Amy, I'm so thankful to read what you share. You express from your heart, the simple, the real... and that's hard to find. Enjoy your new position at the book/art store. You will be loved wherever you go.

The best thing one can do in a UK crisis is listen to Robert Wyatt, Steeleye Span or the Corries (although they are from that distant land to your north). I walked along Hadrian's wall while visiting folks in the the Borders and felt I was in an old Hollywood movie done right. Good luck to you there.

Big hugs Amy. The anxiety is coming for me too. But I’ll hopefully be in a place where people recognized me, though not in a house that I’d hoped for. Life can be so daunting. Just keep smiling.!

Thanks Eline, I hope you land in a good place. I feel lucky to make a big move, while I still have the energy for it. Though my dad and his wife moved at 90 ? Rock on!

It was fun having people at Home Depot etc falling all over Eric for his accent Ronny, I don't think it works the other way around here sadly. Thanks and look forward to crossing paths someday!

That was exactly my response the first time I saw the house Clarke : "It looks like the barn on the set of Hee Haw!" Now I think of it as Upstate Red, that color just looks so good in the light of Hudson Valley and mountains. A great area to visit at least?!

Really enjoyed reading this. I’m sure it’s a hard transition. The comments on social media are hilarious! All the best as things warm up. We are heading to Scotland May 20-June 1. Excited. Was supposed to happen in May 2020. With a couple from Arden.

Hey Amy, welcome to your new home country. We passed by each other this past couple of weeks like proverbial ships in the air. Don't fret your new existence: if my friend's wife can make it as a Kiwi in rural Aberdeenshire, you'll do just fine as a North American in Norfolk. I imagine everyone will find you positively charming and that you'll be feeling fully at home in a matter of weeks. After all, as your post just clarified, you appear to have that perfect quality: English reserve!

I hope to see you over there, or back here, or both. Love to Eric too.

"I imagine everyone will find you positively charming." I second that notion. A shame we lost you on this side of the pond.

Where abouts in England are you moving to? I think you know how much it means to me as I tour there almost annually, but that may change as my main priority since coming home early from last Autumns 'run' of shows (4 cancelled due to illness and two others having to come home and tend to my mother who I love as much as life itself), but as she battles back (and is definitely winning), I could be back in 2025. Hope you and Eric enjoy and prosper where that may be and continue to write and perform, you're both assets to the firm and I'm proud to be in that firm in the capacity I am. Ta very much!!!
